Extracurricular Opportunities

Sports programs will be available, including competitive game opportunities as well as training in developmental skills. In partnership with Canisius College, coaching and league participation is being explored, possibly in coordination with the growing network of local charter high schools. Tapestry would anticipate offering sports such as basketball, soccer, track, cross country, and tennis. The Tapestry program places emphasis on Physical and Emotional Fitness, and sports and recreation are recognized as an important component of a quality high school program.

Performing and visual arts participation will be available, as Tapestry builds upon its strong elementary arts program. Music, dance, theatre, and studio art are currently available to students through 8th grade. Appreciation for the Arts is a stated emphasis of the Tapestry program. Community collaborations will be developed, so that Tapestry students may tap into the richness of Buffalo's local arts scene.

Clubs will be developed as interest is expressed, driven by student and family initiatives.

Internships in community placements will be arranged, driven by student interest, and the goal of developing a sense of real-world application of learning and value for community service.
