Job Posting for Tapestry Charter High School, Buffalo, NY Download this posting as a PDF Positions Available: High School Teachers • Special Education/Resource Grades: 9, 10, 11 Description of Positions: New York State certified teachers in the above secondary certification areas (9-12) Responsibilities: • Collaborate with colleagues to create and implement interdisciplinary learning expeditions • Incorporate explicit literacy instruction (reading and writing) into content-area lesson plans. • Actively participate in the continuing development of school-wide curriculum, school structures, and school culture as we expand to full capacity. • Design and implement Expeditionary Learning structures and practices (for more information, visit www.elschools.org) • Participate in adventure-based activities with students (including up to a week-long outdoor experience at the start of school year) • Participate in ongoing professional development in school and off-site during the school year and for 2 weeks each summer. • Serve as Crew Leader (Advisor) for a small group of students • Meet with families three times per year, outside of regular school hours to discuss student progress Qualifications for Positions: • B.A. or B.S. required, Masters preferred; Appropriate New York State certification required. • At least two years teaching experience preferred • Commitment to and knowledge of small school reform practices • Willingness to implement an interdisciplinary approach to teaching content standards that infuses literacy, the arts and technology. • Commitment to working with a diverse urban student population Description of School: Tapestry High School is a small, public charter school located in Buffalo, NY, committed to preparing students for college or a career of their choice.
